Spring Clean: Anytime Is The Perfect Time

Published by Dani Liney, Tuesday 6th December 2016

It might seem a bit late to be doing a spring clean, but as they say- there is no time like the present. The Port Stephens Examiner ran an advertorial last week about just that- doing a spring clean, and let’s face it, if you haven’t done it yet, it’s not too late!

The story covered just about every aspect of giving your home a thorough scrubbing- inside and out, which to some, might seem a bit daunting. The thought of doing everything in one go could cause considerable stress to the average urban dweller, with a very good chance of forcing a decision to just put it off until next spring! The other option could be to pace yourself by approaching the tasks one at a time; let’s say, one per week. Well, that could end like painting the Harbour Bridge. As soon as you’ve finished everything on your list, it has taken a year, and it’s time to start all over again.

Keeping your house clean has its benefits in terms of health, well-being and, your peace of mind. We all know the health benefits of reducing dust and mould in our homes, but the words used in the story in the Examiner had me thinking I had to join the army for a day just to freshen up the house, with phases like; ‘dust is the enemy’ and ‘a quick assault with the.. vacuum’, which had me shivering in my army boots!

The story did have a very useful message though, and that is that it is important to keep on top of the cleaning jobs that go a bit further under the bed, or behind the lounge. You know, the jobs that take a bit more effort and time. Summer is here and the spring clean can be done at any time of the year. Let’s face it, summer is the time when we open everything up in our home to enjoy the warm weather and, with the summer school holidays nearly here, we want our home to be looking its best and to be a healthy environment for family and friends to enjoy.

There certainly was a lot of good advice and reminders about cleaning, maintenance and preparing your home for the summer season in the story in the Port Stephens Examiner, and it is true that these chores can be overwhelming. I certainly agree with the suggestion that you could reduce your stress levels if you were to consider finding experts who can help with these tasks.

The Perfect Gift For Christmas

Published by Dani Liney, Wednesday 30th November 2016

Christmas is nearly upon us, and as the festivities leading up to the big day ramp up, so do the headaches! Just when you thought there wasn’t another spare minute in your day, along comes shopping for presents, attending work and social functions, and final preparations for Christmas Day to fit in. It always seems to sneak up on us.

When we see those first ads for Christmas items in the shops, we tend to ignore the urge to buy because we believe we still have plenty of time to prepare for it. Next thing you know, you notice that just about every overloaded shopping trolley being guided out of Kmart has a Christmas tree in it. A quick check of the date on your smart phone confirms that there are only a few shopping days left until Christmas! Where does that time actually go? It’s simply really… life is busy, and time goes by quickly when we are so involved in what we are doing.

How often have you heard people say ‘where did the year go’ and ‘what have I done this year’? I had a friend say this to me the other day and it turned out to be really interesting because she started to think back about what she had actually achieved, and it was quite a lot! Christmas is a time of reflection when we think back over all the things we have achieved, and while it’s one day on the calendar, Christmas tends to be a point in time that we use to plan our year around. Sometimes we get it right and have all our ducks perfectly lined up in a row, and we give ourselves a little pat on the back for being so organised. Then there are times when the whole world seems to be conspiring to foil all our well-laid plans. Work, family and anything else unexpected can, and will nibble away at our spare time and next thing you know, the ‘to do’ list still has a bunch of un-ticked boxes, and the big day is upon us.

So, don’t get your tinsel in a twist! It happens to the best of us and it’s just a part of our normal, busy lives. The thing is, don’t let the extra workload stress you. Christmas is a time to enjoy with friends and family, and to celebrate. Getting weighed down with the all the preparations during the lead up to Christmas can leave you exhausted and disillusioned. Baylife Services has been helping people in the Port Stephens area to get rid of some of that stress by taking care of the things people just don’t have time to do. So why not treat yourself? Call us to discuss how we can take care of some of the things you are struggling to find the time for. Or, why not give the perfect gift to someone you know who could do with a helping hand around the house? Baylife Services has gift vouchers for any amount, just contact us to discuss your needs.

We would like to wish everyone a joyful and peaceful Christmas.

Merry Christmas

Achieving a work-life balance

Published by Dani Liney, Monday 31st October 2016

Work-life balance describes the relationship between your work and the commitments in the rest of your life, and how they impact on one another. In our demanding lives, many people struggle to balance work and the responsibilities of caring for children, family members, or even just having quality time with your partner. Baylife Services has been helping people in the Port Stephens area with a range of helpful services to create more quality time in their lives.

There is no ideal work life balance; everyone is different and the right balance may alter over time as families grow older and personal commitments change. Australians work the longest hours in the western world and around one quarter report that work frequently interferes with other activities.

Many of us are time poor, and we are constantly rushing to juggle different commitments. Baylife Services can step in to take care of the tasks that you just never seem to have the time to attend to. We offer a Personal Concierge service which involves arranging any task to suit your specific needs to help to free up your precious time.

A balanced life includes time for work and your personal activities, but the idea of work-life balance can be misleading because it seems to imply that these two aspects of our lives are opposites. A good balance means creating harmony in our lives where benefits gained from each area can support and strengthen the others.

We constantly receive feedback from our clients that the services we provide have made an amazing difference to their lives.  All it takes is a call to discuss your needs, or drop us an email and we can contact you at a time that suits you.
